Learn How To Do The Hand Flip Coin Switch Magic Trick

Basic coin magic tricks to start out doing are always going to seem a lot simpler then they actually are. Even though they are often very short as well, these tricks due require you to refine your hand movements and finesse to the point where the trick no longer looks as simple to your audience as it did to you. The Hand Flip Coin Switch trick is a very basic coin sleight of hand that isn’t forgiving if you mess it up. The trick is very quick and can only really be done once for that specific audience.

Effect:

You show your audience members two coins that you have sitting on your palm up hands. In one quick motion you slap your hands down onto the table. Looking to your audience members, you ask them where they believe that the coins are. After most of them have answered that they are under their respective hands, you pull your right hand off the table, revealing no coins in it or under it. And then you pull your left hand off the table, revealing both coins under it on the table.

How To Perform The Hand Flip Coin Switch

Materials Required:

All you need to successfully perform this trick is two coins. The size should be no greater than a quarter and your goal should be to work down to a penny.

Preparing The Trick:

For this trick to work, the coins must be in a specific place. For your left hand, the coin should be directly in the center of your palm. For your right hand, the coin should be sitting a pinkie finger tips distance away from the edge between your pointer finger and thumb.

What’s The Secret?:

The placement of the coin determines where they will land when you flip them. The left hand, when flipped will put the coin directly under your hand when it hits the table. The right hand, when flipped, will throw the coin towards the left hand. Timing is everything in this trick so make sure that when you flip your hands that your left hand is just a little slower than your right hand so you actually get it under there.

Make sure to do this trick on a surface that won’t make a sound when the flipped coin is heading for your left hand. Don’t place the coin to conspicuously when you are setting up or it will become very obvious as to what you are doing. And of course, expect to need a lot of practice before you successfully complete this trick and are ready to perform
