9 Card Trick

Sometimes you don’t always have a full deck of cards with you and you might not even have enough time to really prepare for a trick either. In situations like those, The Nine Card Trick will be a surefire way to prevent you from tripping yourself up. Practicing for this trick is going to rely mostly on you being quick enough in the process to register each step before your participant can release how you figured out their card. While some tricks are meant to not be repeated in a single sitting for your participants, you may find this trick to be a once ever depending on the age of the participant involved.

How To Setup The 9 Card Trick Setup

Effect:

Your participant will choose one of the nine cards as their card and place it back with the other eight. From there, you will shuffle the cards and then begin dealing them out on the table into three seperate piles face up from left to right. These piles simply overlap and do not cover the card below them so all 9 cards are visible and split into three piles. Once you have asked your participant to indicate which pile their card is in, you will gather all nine cards up and proceed with dealing the cards out and requesting them to tell you which pile the cards once more. Taking the cards up into a pile once more, you will deal the cards out in the same fashion, but this time you will reveal to your participant that you have found their card and it is the center card of the middle pile.

Materials Required:

All you need for this deck is nine standard playing cards. Having a full deck will allow the participant to select the nine cards in total and prove you aren’t hiding anything if you would like.

What’s The Secret?:

After you participant has informed you which pile of cards their card is located in, you will pick up one pile of cards, then the pile their card is located in, then the last pile of cards. Now, when you deal the cards back out, their card will be the second card in one of the three piles that you have dealt out. When they inform you which pile their card is in, you will know which card is theirs because it is the only card from the first pile they selected that is in the new pile.

Gather up one pile, then the pile their card is located in, then the last pile of cards. Now when you deal the cards out for a third time, their card is going to be the center card of the middle pile, or the middle of the entire set up as it. This is because it is the fifth card into your pile due to how you grabbed the cards.
